Overview
Description
Provides diagnostic and therapeutic services, patient/family counseling, and appropriate referrals as necessary to all inpatients and outpatients exhibiting a speech, language, or hearing, or swallowing disorder. Maintains quality care for all patients through interaction with hospital personnel in a coordinated, comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach, and provides assistance where communication barriers exist due to speech/language disabilities to enable each individual to reach his or her maximum level of independence. Supports and actively participates in hospital quality-assurance and in-service programs.
Qualifications
MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s degree in speech pathology
License: Certificate of clinical competence and licensing by State of Georgia.
Experience: Experience with neurologically impaired persons. At least one year of experience in rehabilitation with adult speech/language-impaired populations is preferred.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to think and work effectively under stress with frequent interruptions; to move, sit, stand, walk and bend intermittently throughout the work day, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Must possess sight and hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these sources to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Use of mechanical and technical equipment required for the responsibilities assigned.
- External and internal applicants who become disabled, must be able to perform the essential job functions either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined on a case by case basis.
- Position has a moderate expected exposure to blood borne pathogens.
