POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this job is to perform direct patient care processes and provide assistance to patients and nursing personnel on the assigned unit. Maintains overall departmental operations in accordance with the facilities mission and philosophy

MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate or the equivalent (GED) for those hired after 1990

Certified Nursing Assistant course (CNA) or Nursing Student currently enrolled in a nursing program with completion of a basic nursing course or equivalent nursing experience.

PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to think and work effectively under stress with frequent interruptions; to move, sit, stand, walk and bend intermittently throughout the work day, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must possess sight and hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these sources to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
• Use of mechanical and technical equipment required for the responsibilities assigned.

• Position has a high expected exposure to blood borne pathogens.
