Position Summary
An Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing and maintaining accurate records of a company’s inventory. They ensure optimal stock levels, oversee inventory processes, and resolve discrepancies. Their duties include tracking inventory, managing deliveries, inspecting inventory, maintaining records, and ordering products. They also play a key role in developing and implementing inventory management systems.
Position Responsibilities
- Overseeing the entire inventory lifecycle, from ordering and receiving to storage, tracking, and shipping.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed inventory records, often using specialized software or systems.
- Monitoring inventory levels, identifying potential shortages or overstock situations, and making recommendations for replenishment or adjustments.
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve inventory accuracy, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies between physical inventory counts and system records.
- Generating reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and other relevant data for management.
Essential Skills and Experience
- 3-5 years of experience within inventory management software and other relevant tools.
- Attention to detail for maintaining accurate inventory records and identifying discrepancies.
- Organizational skills are necessary for managing inventory, tracking stock, and implementing inventory control systems.
- Ability to identify and resolve inventory issues, such as shortages, overstock, or discrepancies.
- Ability to communicate is crucial for collaborating with other departments, reporting on inventory status, and training other employees.
- Knowledge of inventory control principles and practices including methods like cycle counting, ABC analysis, and safety stock management.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
· Able to walk and stand, use arms and legs for long periods of time including wrist turning and finger manipulation.
· Employee stands frequently with tasks requiring consistent bending, stooping, kneeling, or crawling to complete; Lift, carry and push/pull occasionally of up to 50 pounds is required.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme temperature conditions.
· Job locations can be consistently 40 degrees or below.
· The noise levels at work are moderate to loud and hearing protection is required.
