Position Summary

The inspector is responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of raw chicken products in a production facility. This role involves conducting inspections, monitoring processing activities, and adhering to food safety regulations to maintain high standards of quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, knowledge of food safety practices, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Position Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of raw chicken products to assess quality, appearance, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Monitor processing lines for compliance with food safety regulations and company policies.
  • Perform sensory evaluations, including checking for freshness, odor, texture and foreign material.
  • Collaborate with production staff to address quality issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure that all processing equipment and work areas are kept clean and sanitized.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices in poultry inspection.
  • Crider Foods requires all employees to comply with and support all Food Safety and Quality policies, programs and procedures to ensure our products meet and exceed consumers’ expectation
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Previous experience in food inspection or a related role is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations and quality assurance processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate findings clearly.
  • Physical stamina to perform inspections and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to follow directions and perform manual labor.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Able to walk and stand, use arms and legs for long periods of time including wrist turning and finger manipulation.
  • Employee stands frequently with tasks requiring consistent bending, stooping, kneeling, or crawling to complete; Lift, carry and push/pull occasionally of up to 50 pounds is required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme temperature conditions.
  • Job locations can be consistently 40 degrees or below.
  • The noise levels at work are moderate to loud and hearing protection is required.
