Electrical and Controls Engineer - 2nd shift

Position Summary
Responsible for performing different technical functions related to electrical, controls, instrumentation, mechanical and pneumatic systems in Crider Foods.
General Purpose
The Electrical and Controls Engineer will become a part of our team as an essential team player in the designing and building of highly complicated and specialized manufacturing facilities. The role of the Electrical and Controls Engineer is a crucial part of the engineering team, working closely with operations and project engineers. An aptitude for PLC and HMI/SCADA based control systems and continuous improvement, as well as a willingness to work hard to build facilities that Feed Families; will ensure the incumbent project engineer becomes a key factor in our organization.
Position Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, program electrical and controls, mechanical, pneumatic, instrumentation and related information and network systems.
- Interpret electrical schematics to perform troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment.
- Perform Preventive Maintenance on electrical and controls, mechanical, pneumatic, instrumentation and related information and network systems.
- Review equipment manuals and ensure corresponding documentation and schematics are up to date and available.
- Performs PLC/SCADA programming.
- Design, develop and implement control systems using Allen Bradley platforms.
- Work with controls team to develop and maintain control systems standards, documentation, software libraries.
- Collaborate with Operations, IT, Maintenance and Engineering to implement control systems continuous improvement.
- VFD programming and maintenance.
- Ensures proper operation of SCADA and PLC systems and associated IO, network and information equipment.
- Implement plant improvement projects.
- Initiate and manage cost effective changes and updates to plant facilities or equipment.
- Provide assistance to maintenance managers to improve plant operations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of capital equipment or facilities modifications.
- Document work on the Assets Management System.
- Serve as contact and support for equipment manufacturers, contractors and other internal or external parties with respect to electrical and controls, mechanical, pneumatic, instrumentation and related information and network systems.
- Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner.
- Ensures compliance with National Electrical Code and other applicable laws and regulations. Understand and follow all safety regulations and policies.

Role Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
Essential Skills and Experience
- 3+ years of controls experience
- Proficiency in programming PLC’s and HMI applications
- Strong GMP skills, as it relates to Food manufacturing
- Industrial instrumentation and control systems
- Electrical Autocad
- Control panel design
- Strong problem solving skill
- Experience with Allen Bradley controls systems platforms
- FactoryTalk View Studio
- RSLogix 500 and RS Logix 5000
- Panelview Plus, Factorytalk View
- Factorytalk AssetCentre
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint
- Pneumatic Systems
- Variable Frequency Drives
- Knowledge of industrial electrical instruments like Multimeters, Tachometers.
- Safety regulations pertaining to the job duties.
- Maintain effective communication and good relationships with internal and external contacts.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Able to walk and stand, use arms and legs for long periods of time including wrist turning and finger manipulation.
- Employee stands frequently with tasks requiring consistent bending, stooping, kneeling, or crawling to complete; Lift, carry and push/pull occasionally of up to 50 pounds is required.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme temperature conditions.
- Job locations can be consistently 40 degrees or below.
- The noise levels at work are moderate to loud and hearing protection is required.
